Discover Bank

At MCD Partners, I contributed to enhancing the banking experience for Discover Bank through complex, award-winning projects, including the redesign of the Discover Personal Loans site, where I focused on creating a seamless user interface. My involvement in various banking initiatives deepened my understanding of user-centered design and refined my UI design skills. Collaborating with a talented team on these diverse projects not only expanded my design expertise but also strengthened my ability to craft intuitive solutions that meet customer needs.

Award-winning experiences

The Discover Personal Loans site redesign was a transformative project that won the 2023 Banking Tech Award for Best User Experience and earned a Webby honoree designation for Best User Interface. This initiative aligned the public site with the new Discover brand, creating an experience centered on clear information about payment amounts and time to payoff. We enhanced transparency through user-friendly loan calculators and insights into various loan types.

To ensure a seamless connection across multiple pages, I developed a cohesive design system and created reusable components. This approach not only addressed the challenge of managing a diverse array of pages and features but also maintained consistency throughout the site. Thoughtfully selected photography and copy effectively differentiated the content.

We conducted extensive user testing to assess navigation ease and the functionality of key features. Our competitive research also enabled us to fine-tune comparison charts and calculators to better meet our customers' needs. Collaborating with such a talented team was an incredible experience, and I’m proud that our efforts received well-deserved recognition.

Elevating the banking process

As a member of the bank team at MCD Partners, we revolutionized the entire banking experience, enhancing everything from payment processes and CD renewals to student loans. Our work encompassed complex projects that required meticulous attention to detail and a dedication to providing users with the information they needed to meet their banking goals. This commitment has been recognized with J.D. Power Awards in 2023, including #1 in customer satisfaction for Discover Online Savings and #2 for Discover Online Checking Accounts.

Creating impactful marketing

Alongside my work on intricate banking projects, I also had the opportunity to develop a range of marketing materials, including website advertisements, emails, and public landing pages. These projects provided a creative outlet and allowed me to explore and expand the brand’s identity. Working on such diverse materials not only enhanced my design skills but also pushed the boundaries of the brand’s visual expression.

Bringing designs to life

During my time at MCD, I developed my animation skills and infused our designs with delightful motion. Initially, I viewed motion as one of my weaker areas, but through dedication and practice, I discovered my ability to create engaging animations. This experience taught me the value of motion and the importance of embracing challenges. I am grateful to my coworkers and mentors who supported me in honing my skills.
